thinking about buying a diesel f250

hey all, i'm thinking about getting a diesel f250. i've never owned a diesel, can any one tell me what to look for when i look at it to make sure i won't be saddled with a ton of repairs?
i don't know anything about diesels so don't hold back with the advice.

for an 83-94 diesel, ask down in the pre powerstroke section.
for a 94 to 97 ask in the 94-97 powerstroke section.
the guys there will set you up with all the info you will need to know when looking at trucks.

Unless you have a need for diesel(towing or hauling on a regular basis) I would not recommend a diesel. Fuel just went up here $0.30 a gallon. Now it is 4.29 a gallon. NOT a good time to own a diesel

that aint no lie.it's not the time to buy a truck period imho unless you really need one, with these insane prices.
a small car pushing 40 mpg is hardly good enough anymore.start talking well under 20 mpg with a truck, and it'll make a feller go broke just thinking about driving.
