Considering to trade in my 04 F-150 for a 09 xlt. What do I need to really look for in these trucks and do I need to worry about anything mechanical? Plus this 09 has 60,000 miles already

 

Plenty of issues threads in this forum. Take some time to read them.

Few other questions to ask:

Take a look at the TSBs - have the applicable ones been applied?

What service has been performed?

Has the door handle recall been done?

Has the 3rd brake light gasket been replaced?

Stock tire size on the truck?

Are these highway miles (I would assume so, but never hurts to ask)?

 

The door handle recall does that have to deal with the key pad or just the handle? I'll be going to look at the truck tonight.

You have to read the recall here for more details, but it is an issue with the door opening when involved in an impact (i.e. car accident). It is the door handle and not the keypad.

One other thing. Take the VIN to a Ford dealer and ask for a full OASIS report. This will give you the full warranty history of the truck. It goes hand-in-hand with a Carfax for any used Ford vehicle purchase...in my book.
