Engine failure on 2011 PS 6.7 ltr

So I am happily driving my 2011 F250 Powerstroke and the water in fuel light comes on. I draIn the filter and drive about 10 miles and it happens again. Drain again and 5 miles later the engine dies. Had it towed to my dealer who found an exploded high pressure diesel injection pump. They talked to Ford and found out that they needed to install an all new fuel system from the injectors to the tank! The bill was 18,000 and no warrantee. Bad stuff gets right by the filters!!!
I have two of those trucks and since the dealer used exactly the same parts as the broken ones, it can happen today again. Any more of you guys had this problem?

Uh oh, this might turn into another 12 page thread...
Fuel systems have been a hot topic lately.

I wish I could find 50 or so people with the same problem as we have. It is ridiculous to have to spend 18,000 on a 60,000 truck in its first year!!

Hdslider, we ordered both trucks from Ford and never did any after market upgrading. Did not even put chips in as I wanted to see if they really are better than the old 7.3 Navistars.

And the other question that will have an impact: Did you use any kind of fuel additive? If so, which one and at what frequency?

I am very curious as to the geography of where these failures are occurring, I know there probably isn't a trend but i am just curious....

What was the reason they gave for refusing warranty coverage?

I'd contact the Attorney General of your state and file a report. Just my opinion.

Sounds like you got a load of water contaminated fuel. Do you know where the last place you fueled? Kept receipts? Any recourse there?

Sounds like you picked up some really bad fuel, do you travel or usually fill at the same place? If you can email to me or post your VIN, I will remove the Vin in the forum, so I can have one of techs here look at what was done in your situation. The HPFP has been a hot topic so this will remove any credibility or doubt about you as an owner.

You'll find three or four other owners who have had this experience here with the HPFP and 6.7L.
There is a crazy amount of discussion (sometimes heated) on this topic lately.

Your case sounds like contaminated fuel unfortunately since your WIF light did activate.
Where are you located? $18,000 seems high for this failure.
