We made a big mistake yesterday !!!

We were out and about in the Ex enjoying the GE_OR_GEOUS day here in the DFW area and stopped by the local ford dealer....

Shouldn't a dun it - Nope

Test drove a new Crewcab 6.7 diesel....
MAN, I thought my tuned Ex was nice and quick...

That dual turbo setup responds quickly !!!

Know this is an Ex forum, but what are the pros and cons of trading my old friend 2005 Eddie Bauer in for this loaded expensive purty thing !

I will state the first few
CONs...
the Ex has long since been PAID for and no car note (that's a double con )
the ex can seat 8 comfortably AND their luggage
the ex is set up like I like it...
not sure the garage that has housed the Ex all this time can handle the length of the CC (height and width are fine)
even the shortbed @ 20.5 feet , much less the longbed @ 21.9 feet
the epa is deeper into engine mgmt and extra fluids for 'clean' air !

Pros:
Momma got the last two new cars and it's MY turn
the ex seems dated compared to new shiny things...
did I say the CC was purty and loaded with all the bells and whistles ?

Payment is a big one!!! I would keep the Ex and if you want a truck add it to the fleet.

They will never make another Ex. I don't think the Ex looks dated, it is just bigger than everything else on the road.

My neighbor bought one, about 56,000.00 and he really likes it. He had a 6.0 and he says there's all the difference in the world between the two. He sold the 6.0 outright after he bought the 6.7.

John, that's not a mistake! I've been looking myself, but I will not part with the ex.

Maybe, you can use the cc to tow and keep the ex in the garage for those family outtings.
Don't think your Ex will lose much more value! If it doesn't work out in the future you can always sell the Ex or the cc.

Just my 2 cents.

PS. Jan don't hate me.

You could always freshen up the front end of the Ex.......a little facelift.......just a headlight swap makes a big difference

You will miss the x.

I have a Dodg 35000 SRW for towing goosenecks, hauling stuff, etc.

The x is great for hunting and bein able to lock up my gear etc.

If you can swing it, keep the x and see if you still use it. If not, then sell it.

Ford keeps changing engines. I am in a wait n see on th 6.7.

Two things will probably keep me from ever buying another new vehicle:

1. The HUGE loss of value.
2. Car payment. I will NEVER finance another vehicle. Both of mine are paid for and I'm never going back.

Think of all the Ex mods you can make for $600/month over 4/5 years!

I agree with Scott, make your own payments to your savings acct. ahead of the purchase, pocket the interest.

$15K fuel pump?

Def Fluid - I am not a fan. I am keeping my 2005 5.9L Cummins

JD, go hang out in the 6.7L forum for awhile before you jump, bro.

Passions are running high in that forum. Numerous HFPP problems where Ford isn't honoring the warrantee are being discussed (heatedly debated) with finger pointing and accusations about the Bosch pumps being levied and it's getting people infracted and temporarily banned because they won't follow the rules regarding civil discussion of the problem, and whether Ford warrantees the problem or blames the end user for using bad fuel.

I don't see how ford could blame anything on anyone else when all the other diesels running around don't have problems (fuel related). Your product that you warranty is having a problem, fix it.
