CHANGED OIL, TRUCK WONT START

2005 F350 SD Lariat FX4
I just changed my oil, now truck cranks, but wont start. Did I do something to the spring in the oil filter resivoir? Spring sticks when pushing down, then snaps down.. Should the spring move up and down freely?

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Did you use an original Ford/Motorcraft/Racor/Navistar oil filter, or one of those garbage aftermarket filters that use the one-piece cap? If you used an original filter, does it have the correct cap, or did you install it into an aftermarket cap, unknowingly?

It is the cap that came with the truck, it is stock i believe.
The filter is a motorcraft.
It has the dimples inside, looks like the one posted in here.

Two weeks ago, used oem filters.

Hey, what position is the fuel shut off switch (passenger side kick panel) supposed to be in? mine is up, I push it down and it pops up. Doesn't it usually stay in the down position? Or am i mistaken?

Just because your cap came with the truck doesn't mean its OEM. I would put money on the fact your cap is a wix cap and add a motorcraft filter = no start after oil change.

oil filter is supposed to be tightened to 19 ft / lbs. also, do not reuse the old o-ring on oil filter cap. use the new o-ring tat came wif it. make sure to spread new oil on that new o-ring.

oil pan gasket (drain plug bolt) is supposed to be tightened to 14 - 22 ft / lbs.

jim is right too. u have to use an oem oil filter cap as well.

Good way to find out is to compare the old filter with the new one...... If the old one is taller, you need to buy a new Ford filter cover.

It is absolutely a ford oil filter cap. I put Rotella T-6 Synthetic 5w 40 in it and I put in just under 14 quarts per the thread in the bible. I didn't have a torque wrench so i marked the cap and the hose in front of it and it seemed normal.

I will say this; I changed the fuel filters a couple weeks ago at most, when i picked it up and I am pretty sure thinking back that I lined the o-rings with diesel fuel insted of oil. That is bad right or wrong. Will eat it the orings? How long would it take?

nope, it's 15 quarts as per ford recommendations.

jus cos u marked it, dont mean tat it's the right spot, since when u install the cap back on, it's a different spot as to when it came out. u might be over-tightening or under-tightening.
