Seems like it's starving

Just recently finished getting my F100 registered, figuring it would be the best way to find any driveability issues. The truck sat for about 14 years before i got my hands on it.She starts right up, and seems to run good when it's sitting in the driveway, so that's a plus. after it warms up, the oil pressure drops to the low side of normal, and she's a bit ticky on the driver's side. It's a 400, so I figure it's just time for some bearings, isn't knocking or anything like that, just ticky. Here's the problem. Get going down the road, no problem. After a few seconds of acceleration, she acts like she's starving for fuel. It has a new fuel pump, so I know that's good. Could it be a restriction at the carb inlet, or possibly a clogged fuel pickup. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Sounds like you're on the right track. No doubt the carb needs rebuilt after sitting that long. Surprised the gaskets aren't leaking. You''ll be surprised how much crap is in the fuel bowl after the old gas evaporated.

Yeah, i figured i take a crack at the carb, first. I can only imagine the fun I'm gonna have trying to get the tank out. Also going to pick up a mechanical oil gauge so I can get an idea of where the oil pressure's at.

Replace the fuel filter at the carb inlet.

Yup, it was the inlet screen. Seems like the previous owner ran it without a filter, she was plugged tight. Running good now. Now, it's time to address other issues. Thanks.
