I tried to start my 2001 F-250 SD 7.3L diesel and it turns over quick but won't run. It sounds like it's not getting enough fuel(dry sounding..if that makes sense) I changed the fuel filter, air filter and went ahead and changed the oil too(wasn't over miles but it's been a while since a change). Tried using a code reader but it either shows "error" or "0". I read that there could be issues with the CPS so I went ahead and bought one and when I went to replace it, I noticed the wires to the CPS were cut off! Problem discovered, right? I wish. I used some displacement connectors and tried to fire it up and still the same. So I replaced the CPS as well since I already bought it. Still won't run. I'm trying to avoid paying for a tow to a shop and trying to fix it myself but don't know what else to check. Any help is greatly appreciated!

 

There are several things to check with a crank-no start situation, but since your Cam sensor wires were cut, this must have caused your issue in the first place. If you had a scanner that could read data, you would be able to see whether or not the cam sensor is being read. Without a scanner to verify, I would recheck your spliced wiring connections you made to make sure they are making good clean connections

 

Thanks. I will check the wiring again tomorrow. As far as the scanner, I have used 2 different ones and same readings. I must've reset it by accident before I got any codes, if that's possible.
