exhaust for 1948 F1

I have 1948 F1 I have stock axle drop about 2 inches stock steering did a trial fit with 351 W engine and C6 trans had Mustang headers. The drivers side header outlet hits my Steering column.

It looks like I need more of a center dump style any ideas

Will post pic tonight

open to exhaust manifolds or headers

Thanks

I used FC3 headers from Sanderson on my 351M and they worked fine. It was a tight fit on the passenger side because I mounted the engine 2" to that side to get clearance for the steering.

As 48 Steel mentioned, offsetting the engine up to two inches to the passenger side is a good way to get exhaust/steering clearance. If you haven't already finished your motor mounts you can do that. I have built two F-1 trucks, one with a Chevy 350 and the second with a Ford 302. In both instances I offset the engine two inches to the passenger side for more exhaust/steering box clearance.

One other alternative is to look at 65-68 Mustang 289/302 exhaust manifolds. I'm using a pair of those on my 85 302. They are not high performance but if you are building a cruiser they will be fine. They empty to the rear and may give you the clearance you need. I'm pretty sure they will fit a 351 also.

How about block huggers for SBF? I have not tried it but it looks like it might work.
