Does anyone know if I can swap out my second row bench seats for second row captain chairs? If so, do I need to do any major modifications? Or do I simply swap one out for the other.
Just pull the center seat, affix the arm rests to the remaining seats, and fit a carpet to cover the holes. As far as I can tell they're the same seats.

Great idea! Any ideas on how to install the armrest?
that is a great idea, I was going to do just this to my '05, but ended up just getting a new Expy with the 2nd row buckets instead. And quite honestly, don't know that you really need the center armrests, alot of the time when I'm riding in back, I've got it up anyway... probably pretty difficult to do install, no less.
My notes are based on posts here a couple of years ago. I've not done this to mine but others have. There's even a T-shaped carpet (mat) available from some source to cover the holes. I used to have photos of the conversion, but...
I believe there is a nut installed under the vinyl sides-you can feel it with your hands-that you could cut a small hole and bolt up the arm rests. Not sure if they sell the arm rests as a separate part though.

This should get everyone interested started.
There are multiple part numbers listed so best bet would be to double check your Interior Code - letters in ( ) and with the dealer to make sure it's the correct part #. I am not responsible for incorrect part numbers

even esiaer you could remove the center seat and replace it with the center console from a navi, this way the carpet will be covered!
Herman,
I did this to my XP EL remove the center 20% seat and purchase a Lincoln Navigator second row console and enjoy...no need to add the armrest as the console takes care of that.
