well guess i have to say it, i was wrong, the state of texas does not consider the turbo as a muffler anymore. if it came with a turbo and a muffler it has to have both. so on that note here is my new shiny muffler

Did you get a ticket or something? Personally, I would never have one without a muffler, far to obnoxious. I'm sure your neighbors are grateful.

no I tried to get it inspected and nobody would unless it had a muffler so I had to put one on. it's quieter now, I like loud trucks myself so it might fall off in the near future

I love my straight piped truck and I'm an "old" man. Nothing like romping on the old girl and listening to her squeal.

I agree but straight piped all that barking sound makes it sounds like ****! The MBRP muffler makes it sound ****! To each their own though.

next year they will start emmision testing so now you are going to have to have a cat and a muffler . so no cat, no sticker. its almost like they dont want us to have any fun with our big trucks. o and if your tires stick out past the fender then you will be required to have fender flares and mud flaps for big mud tires.

Wiskey Tango Foxtrot. What counties on the emissions, just Harris and Dallas/Tarrant/Denton/metroplex? And where are the mudflap laws? I haven't seen any of this bullchit yet.

But we'll be able to go 80mph on I-20 at least. Because that's AWESOME for emissions in a truck that'll get 10mpg going that fast.

I was looking at MBRP... cat test pipe for when I need it, seems like an easy off when I don't. More $$ than a true turbo back without the cat, but it might be worth it. I haven't really gotten serious on the exhaust research yet though, could be a cluster waiting to happen.

texas has always had the fender flare law. my old man was a cop and i remember him talking about that when he was one. but the good thing about texas is that the cops know we all love our trucks and most of them will leave us alone. what i have found out though is the cops that come from outta state are normally the ones to write tickets for it. Not saying other states are bad but thats what i have come to find out. also houston is bad about the inspection things. further north or west or south you go from there the better it gets. i run a gutted kitty only because im DOT but other than that they could care less up this way

If your thinking about removing muffler & putting in for inspection, use these band clamps. Remove clamp & it comes apart, no crimping like u-bolt clamps.
