Whats a truck frame worth??

I have someone wanting to buy a frame that i have and im not sure what i should ask. He doesnt want axles or dog house or anything like that. I can figure my labor in getting it stripped so im not worried avout that. Especially with scrap being almost $300/ton what should i ask for it??

300 a ton ? I'm amazed, we don't get that here in Mn. Sure does kinda dictate the price on used parts and parts trucks tho

Time is money

The model and quality of the frame should give you an idea of pricing and cover you "cost's" of striping the frame... In your area warm coffee and gloves could be pricey ... it's cold outside ... LOL !!!

Now. I can buy a truck frame from a Junk yard for 400. Just the frame w spring hangers, nothing else. Which i think is a fair price. When you were able to buy these frames NEW, they were 1500

Metal scrap in Maine is high. Very high. We can't buy a crappy non running truck for 500$ anymore. It's up in the 1000-1200 range now.

I'm new to pa and haven't found junkyards yet.
Brad, we should meet up in Allentown or center valley sometime. It's about halfway between us. Talk trucks and junkyards.

LOL, Then I must have done great! I bought a 94 f150, 4wd, 302, Auto, Std Cab Shortbed with 120k on it for 2000$ It's got a little wheel well rust, but not bad at all.

Too bad your not in Maine anymore JR, I could definitely use some help fabbing some parts. :-)

If the trucks in good shape then you made out well.
People just think where scrap is high that they can sell it for more. They'd rather scrap a truck then sell it for the same price.

If you need parts then go to advance in brewer. Talk to Ryan or Jen. They won't steer you wrong. Ryan has some cool toys. 450whp Volvo and a supercharged v6 mustang in the 450-500 range. And now building an 80s 2wd 1ton. He can help get you parts or places to go for fab work.

Honestly, I'd rather not go there. I've been really less then impressed with both of them. I can fab the parts, I have the space, the welder, and the ability, but just lacking the basic ford knowledge. Tomorrow I'll start with the brake lines, and shackle mounts.

Once I figure out what I'm going to do about leveling the front end, I have a laundry list of things I'd like to do. I was lucky enough to get a dual shock front end, so I'm thinking new shocks, and all the replaceable steering/suspension parts in the front get replaced. This truck feels a little drifty. I'm debating on either longer coils or spacers. But ONLY coils if I can find one with a similar spring rate, I don't want it to ride like a 1 ton. But alas, I've managed to get off topic. I'll post some pics tomorrow.
