f250 - f150 suspension interchangabilty.

Starting DD project, making my 96' ECSB 2wd 3/4 ton a 1/2 ton. The rear swap will be easy but I'm unsure about the ifs. Will the beams swap right out or are there differences? I know the ride height is lower but anything else?

What are you hoping to gain from this? I believe you can swap spindles and such to get the 5 lug pattern. Not 100% sure tho

I'll explain the "why" when I start the project thread. The 1/2 has bent I beams to make it lower which is what want. Can the entire beam, hub assembly be swapped?

Measure from the spring mounts to the eye of the beam hinge. Also, measure the distance between the two hinges. If these match, you should be able to swap them out. You should also see if the cross member is going to give you a bind. What engine is the 3/4? Mine has a 460 and it has a different crossmember and subsequently different hinge mounts than a half or 3/4 with a smaller engine.

This project smells like a lowered 3/4 gone 1/2. I understand wanting the rim options of a 5 lug, but why start with a 3/4? And is it a 4x4?

Hey Joe. I've got a set of 2wd 1/2 ton beams at home and my F-250 is 2wd. If you don't have both sets sitting there to measure, I can measure them for you. I'm pretty sure it will all bolt up though.

Thx Travis, I've got both, I'm pretty sure the lengths are equal, the bolt hole in the pivot is the main concern.

So is the pivot bolt hole the same size ? If not then what, drill the holes out ?

A member here "Franklin2" claims the 4x4's wont swap this way. That is the D50 vs D44 TTB.

The bolt holes won't be a problem, as long as the bushing cups are the same size. I'm pretty sure they use the same pivot bolt though..
