I choose the 6.2L over the EcoBoost because I wanted an engine that didn't have a lot of new technology and extra crap bolted to it to help it make its power.

I also choose an F-150 for the better ride, as this truck is my daily driver.

I don't mind using my load leveling bars when needed. I haven't had any really severe payloads in the bed to make me want to install a set of air bags.

So far I'm happy with the truck.

X- plan = Friends and family pricing. I believe the calculation is X-Plan = Invoice - (0.4% x invoice) + Admin Fee

If you have the time and patience, you can sometimes wheel and deal with a dealer below what you'd get with the X-plan, but for someone like me who has neither, x-plan on my SD was the way to go.

When that new 3.5 EB Explorer comes out, I'll be usin' X-plan for that too!

BTW - Congrats to the original poster on the 6.2, LOVE that motor!

I really only tow the boat, I have a 11' xlt with the 5.0 no tow package. the boat is a older grady white that weighs about 5,500lbs. the truck works a little going up hills but haul's it no problem. I get about 15-16 mpg hooked up and a little under 20mpg empty and driving like a normal light footed person ( but that doesn't happen often) With my driving style I get around 17mpg. I have a little over 33,000 miles on the truck and it will be a year old on May 10. I'm very happy with the truck and it preforms very well off road with the new tires. I hope this helps you out! I can't really tell you how the 6.2 goes where I don't own one.

Definitely the way to go. That's what I did on both my cars. No worry about pricing or haggling, it's a set price by Ford.

just my 2 cents. I had a 04 6.0L F250 for my daily driver and occasional tow (car hauler, enclosed motorcycle trailer). Living with that pig when not towing sucked (crappy turn radius, spooling it up to pass a car, parking lots). I now drive a F150 6.2L max tow and I'm very happy. I guess I would rather abuse my F150 when needed rather than put up with a F250 when I don't.

Diesels have just become too complicated for me and the whole DEF and regen crap I was told about for the new diesels really turned me off.

6.2L and loving it.

The 6.2 will hold up longer than the ecoboost in my opinion the turbos will cook that 6 banger in the long haul . Especially if you doing a lot of towing . I also have 2 friend with the Eco and booth been in shop already with less than 50k . Miles on them
So the 6.2 is better in my opinion

IIRC only Ford employees and contractors are able to get the X-plan. When my brother Worked for Ford Twin City Assembly plant he did get the X-plan since he was contracted through a hiring agency but still worked for Ford. I believe immediate family members are able to get on the X-plan.

Holy necro-post batman this is an old thread...lol I remember this debate. I wonder how the OP's truck is doing. I remember reading that the heavy towing was for a year of setting up property so now that its a daily driver hopefully everything worked out.

There are more than that that can get the x-plan. I can as a member of the disabled American veterans.

There are others.

There is also other plans out there besides x-plan.
