slop in powertrain..trans rebuilt and still slips

my 2004 4.6 4x4 has always hade a little drivetrain slip mabey once an hour in town driving......Now the TRANNY DROPED at 50 k....the GOOD mechanic pulled the pan and it was clean as a whisle....upon complete rebuild he found a very small hook related to OVERDRIVE broken.....that got her going again, but IT STILL SLIPS!!! after 2000 $$$ spent, I would hate to start saving for the next rebuild at 100 k my alleigence to FORD TRUCKS is being strained !! any ideas ?? slips

In in town driving mabey once or twice a day it seems like the cluster gears have a half turn of freeplay ....then it catches.....since the premature failure of the trans, and the problem with overdrive...It seems this is possibly again related to overdrive

When the truck slips does it shimmy, if so your clutch packs are probably a little burned. I would take it back to the mechanic and have him check it out. He should stand behind his rebuild.
