Do doubt, I remember paying $180 for rent and splitting all the bills 4 ways, and that was in Manhattan! Wasn't single but still didn't have much to pay for. Simpler times then

A young couple on another site chops there own wood for heat, has a windmill generator, also solar heat, a water well, and a sewer pond... They hunt and fish and grow a garden. They survive on $200 a month-- insurance, cell phones and internet mostly. They posted that after a guy saying they were having problems surviving on $6,500 a month.

Joe, I have a bunch of stuff that needs to be done to my house. Painting mostly or mostly preping to paint. If yer down this way let me know ahead of time and I'll get stuff. I'll pay $10 an hour cash if you want to do the work.

Without the mortgage, sure. Wouldn't be fun, but no car payments or credit card payments and stuff....so. It's doable.

Unhappy

I Agree With the others, It's not fun living at 9/hr. It is easier when your young and don't have a family, but as you get older it becomes increasingly harder and more impossible to survive. Just my student loans are 200 a month and that's chump change when compared to other people's loan payments. Factor in rent, utilities, fuel, food... and your paycheck is gone real fast.

1 eye surgery at $600=66.7 hours at $9 per hour. Being a doc. is much better than a ditch digger.
