Scary letter from a law firm...

I just recieved a letter from a law firm saying that they have been involved in many law suit cases against Ford concerning their heavy duty trucks.
They claim that there has been major engine, tranny and safety issue failures in trucks made between 2008 and 2011.
I have the new 2011 250 Superduty. I bought it because of the new engine and tranny design and overall appearance.

Am I to be concerned about this? I use this truck for my business and bought a new one so I would not have any down time like my 1998.

Try to do some internet research on the firm that sent you the letter, or have your lawyer check them out. They may have checked DMV records for owners of these particular vehicles and may be trying to start some class action suit or some bogus scam.

For better or for worse, in the US, when you own a vehicle with defects the manufacturer will notify you with a recall letter. Don't worry about what an unsolicited letter tells you.

Next time you're screwing around on the interweb or driving on the highway, look at all the banners and billboards and count how many say that you're some sort of victim and are entitled to money. You'll realize that it's not just because the FTE crowd supports Ford products that we're telling you it's BS. Litigators are in the business of creating problems where none exist- should you actually have a problem with your Ford, hire a lawyer then and you'll get the money you're entitled to. This guy is trying to use you to get money for himself, otherwise he'd wait until a problem actually arose and YOU asked HIM to represent you.

Aside from any legal issues, FTE can always help you with any Ford-related problems you might have. Don't feel bad about sharing the success stories, either- you will have many with a blue oval on your grille. Keep on truckin!

I would never actually respond to this letter, I'm just questioning the facts. Is there any truth to it? Is this truck going to be as reliable as my old 1989 f150 that was practically bullet proof?

If your '89 had a 300 inline six and M5OD tranny then no it won't. Otherwise, don't worry yourself. Your truck came with a 5yr 60k drivetrain warranty and a 3yr 36k B2B warranty. You'll be fine.

The very few issues regarding the 6.7L and 6.2L engines are isolated at best and likely from abuse / mis-use.

That's a pretty broad brush you're using Ed...comparing used car dealers and attorneys with child molesters. As one who has made his living for the past 28+ years selling new and used vehicles...I resent it!!!

Sorry if you took that personally or if anyone else was offended Ken. It was a purposely EXAGGERATED analogy designed for humor that , in retrospect, could reasonably be construed as harsh.
Again, my apologies.

Thanks. I would never respond to such a letter. I'm just concerned about the claims of mechanical failure. I would figure the best info would come from owners of Ford trucks.
That's why I joined.
Talk again.

I'm good Ed...I probably over reacted...it gets tiring to constantly read on this forum and others everyones low opinion of car salespeople. Thanks for your explanation.

i have nothing but respect for car salesmen. they are forced to be pushy by cheap dealership owners that pay them by commission instead of hourly.
now as far as lawyers go, i can honestly say i only know 2 i would trust with anything more than an empty bank bag.
