1997 F250 4X4 Crew Cab Rear Spring Question
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
I've got a 1997 F250 4X4 CC that I use to pull my 5th wheel trailer. The truck squats down in the rear a little bit more than I like when I hitch up the trailer. This truck already has the extra helper (some call them overload springs) installed above the regular spring pack.<o></o>
<o> </o>
I thought of installing air bags, but they will not work because of the way 5th wheel hitch bracket that bolts to the frame. So that is a no go.<o></o>
<o> </o>
I see the F350 4X4’s have a taller steel block that sets below the spring pack and on top of the rear axle. I’m thinking I could change out the block on my F250 for one from an F350 to increase my ride height in the rear. Will the block from 2X4 work or is it some other height?<o></o>
<o> </o>
Is this possible and which years will interchange?<o></o>
<o> </o>
It looks like I would also need the long U-bolts that hold the whole thing together and a longer sway bar bolts.<o></o>
<o> </o>
Would the center carriage barring on the drive shaft need to changed out as well, do to changing the angle of the drive shaft?<o></o>
<o> </o>
Will longer shocks be needed to fit the increased distance from the axle to the frame?<o></o>

dont go with the taller block , it wont solve the sagging springs !
the F250 has a 2" tall block and the F350 has a 4" tall block !
you need to put 2-4 more leafs in the over loads and that will help with the 5th wheel !
or you can put a couple more leafs in the main spring pack or do both and never look back at a sagging rear !
with the leafs in the overloads the truck will ride like it does now !
with the leafs in the main spring pack it will ride a little stiffer !
