Rubber Duckie, you're the one...

Loooong story.

Before I accepted my position at my current employer, I did some contract work for them for a year or so... As some of you may know, the extrusion process involves a requirement for a cooling agent...in this case, water. It doesn't even really have to be COLD water, just cool enough to remove heat from 350 degree plastic.

As most do, the extrusion line at work has a water trough that the newly formed wire passes through BEFORE it physically touches anything else. (Thus the wire will keep it's shape...)

Anyhow, we use two water troughs, two air wipes, and recirculate the water on the line...which requires a bath tub....which some wise guy had put a rubber ducky in.

I was so impressed with this frivolity that I took pictures of the duck floating in the bathtub.

Sometime after I became a full time employee, the aforementioned duck became stuck in the float valve that controls the water level in the bath tub...which resulted in flooding the wire mill.

The maintenance man did verily removed the duck from the bath tub at a rather high velocity.

I recovered the duck and reinstalled it in the bath tub. (Turns out that duck has seniority on BOTH of us.)

Maintenance was not pleased with my decision, but did come up with a compromise...a "leash" for the duck so that it would no longer get stuck in the float valve.

Not sure if you can tell from that pic, but that "leash" bears a striking resemblance to a noose.

He hung my duck.

While visiting a flea market/swap meet with my redheads last weekend, I found rubber duckies for 50 cents each.

I bought 20 of them and have spent this week hiding them all over the campus...not just the wire mill.

That poor maintenance man is going to be finding rubber duckies for years...

Well, you're half right, Rich...I won't specify...

I make both PVC insulated bare copper wire, and silicone coated ignition wire for automobiles.

No pics of hidden duckies yet, but I can get some...

And I thought I pulled some mean crap at work. When I first saw the second "hiden duck" photo...I thought someone had put a condom on it's head. I'm sure that says something about me...just not sure if it's good or bad.
