Clutch Replacement Cost
Hi all,
Anyone have a clutch done recently? My '93 250HD went in today for a clutch hydro system and clutch replacement. Got quoted $1400 (+tax) on parts and 9 hrs of labor, and was wondering if that was good, average, etc. Figured I'd ask here in case of regional variation.

That's what really stuck me. 2 guys for over 4 hours? They're doing the hydraulic actuator system too, but thats still a really long time, and this is a good shop. For that kinda money I could have rented a stocked a shop for a month, done it, my sas, and my brother could have put in his axles.

its not a 2 guy job for one, there isnt enough room. maybe 2 guys to pull the trans/engine apart and push them together and get them lined up, but thats about 10 minutes.
the hydro parts are not complicated or time consuming to install, and giving a full hour to bleed is overkill but fair. still not approaching the 9 hour mark. especially on a smallblock.
