What transmission do I have? 1989

I'm looking at a 1989 f150 5-speed 4x4 That needs a rebuild. The guys a lazy *** and won't look under the trany pan.So from the info. I've given ya'll , Do ya'll have any idea what tranny I have. I've looked on the internet and the only one I can come up with is the mazda tranny. But according to LMC catalog it wasn't used that year. Please and thank you.

My '88 F-150 4X4 has the 5 speed Mazda manual transmission. I don't know why they wouldn't have been used in '89.

Ask if its a 4 or 5 speed.

The 1987 design was more streamlined, and maintenance items were made simpler. Rear antilock brakes were now standard, the first truck to boast this. The five speed Mazda M5OD transmission was added to the lineup in 1988, while still retaining the heavier built Borg-Warner T18 four speed manual transmission.

I'm looking at the catalog right now, and its show the C4,C5,C6, AOD/AOT,E4OD,AODE-W. So more than likely it is the M5OD? And I fort got to add at the begining that the engine is a L6 4.9L 300

You just listed all the automatic transmissions. The M5OD is a manual. Is this a 5 speed auto? (FYI, #-speed means manual unless you say auto.) What are your 5 speeds, and post up your VIN/doortag. The only thing you would change for a manual is the clutch, no pan, shift kit, etc..

I honestly don't know anything about fords. Yeah, when I said 5-speed its manuel. I don't own the truck. I'm thinking about buying it, but I want to know what tranny it has. The guy I talked to on the phone has no info. about his truck besides the second gear went out.

Look at the TRANS code on your Certification Label (driver's side door jamb) and look up your code in the table below, it will tell you what it came with from the factory.
