Almost to 100k....To-do/Wish List?
So yes, I'm almost to what I personally think is a mile-marker of 100k. It would've probably already been past it if my parents still drove the X but anyhow, I need to know about some of the things that should be on my "to-do list." I'm about 3k shy however I'm having to look at some new tires and kinda wanna "kill two birds with one stone." Here's the info on my X, and what I'd like to accomplish with this "make-over/revamp/mods" whatever ya wanna call it.
05 EB V10 4x4
Airlift rear bags
K&N FIPKII intake
Excursion spring code: CCGG
-2-3” leafs in front 4300lb capacity, both sitting approx 38.75" from center of the wheelwell
- 7-3” wide leafs and 2” block in rear 5250lb capacity, both sitting at about 40.25"
-3:73 gears
-I have never done any major work/maintenance such as on suspension components, hubs, ball joints, bearings, etc. Only the regular oil changes, filter cleaning, brakes, and have only had to change out the steering stabilizer(shock?) once. Everything else has always been good and never had any problems, however lately I've been hearing some clackity noises, almost like somethings loose, on/in something from the front passenger wheelwell, along with a wree wree sound when just coasting or slowing down to a stop. So I'd like to get your expertise on what this could be.
-Also, I'm personally wanting to put some LT285/70R17's(34.1") tires underneath the X on some new 17x8.5 rims. I currently have 285/75R16's(32.8"), they've been perfect and no rub. I've read so much about the V/B code swaps mods (great info by the way and clarified a few things https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ross-eyed.html ) Also what kind of gears should I consider, contemplating 4:56 or 4:88. I do a good amount of 40hw/60city but really wanna make sure I have good torq for when towing and getting on the freeway, usual mph speeds are 75ish on hw, 30-50 city. What's a good company? I know it's a D50 front/10.5" rear(or is it 10.25?), should I go with Dana, Yukon, Timken? What about the 4x4 hubs/locking mechanism and that maintenance?
We do use the X to tow our toybox during riding season (only about 5-10 times a year) so that's why we have the rear airbags. I would just like a "LEVEL" stance while empty, so after reading lots of info, Could I get away with just getting front V codes? And if I need I can pump up the rear bags to make it level. Or should I still get the 350 blocks, and do those have the bumb-stop tangs that I can remount the bags on? Oh, when towing although I do not know the tongue weight (05 18ft GearBox) I fill the bags to 60psi and it sits level.
I've done lots of searches and have saved (hopefully the right) part #'s from other threads, and have done searches/bookmarked Husky Springs HUSKY SPRINGS, helper kits, u-bolts, Timbren Kits, Air Lift Kits Tousley Tousley Ford Parts Depot Ford Parts Official Ford Parts Site | Buy Motorcraft & OEM Ford Parts Online | FordParts.com and Bronco Graveyard Early Bronco Restoration Full Size Bronco Restoration Classic Ford Bronco Parts For Sale

You also remove the sheet metal spacers that came on the B codes and replace them with the 1/8" spacers from the Excursion springs.
On Bronco graveyard I found these and thought this would be a cool addition to the front V's Front Air Lift System 99-04 F250-F350 thought's? Also could anyone provide info for the Hellwig sway-bars?
I'd really like to know which maintenance/preventative changes/mods I should go over, which would be the best and most cost effective way to fit the 34's, and which gears would be best.
Here's some pics:
Current stance on 285's
Rims I'll be getting, Method Race Wheel's Double Standard 17x8.5 simulated beads
I really want a diff cover
Is that bent thing a sway-bar?
I know this post is really long, but I'm trying to get as much knowledge as possible for when I'm ready to bring the hammer down and go with the best setup.....plus blow away the guy (whoever the guy is) with my knowledge on this pricey investment.
Thanks so much in advance for any replies.

Consider the Michelin LTX instead of the Goodrich T/As. You'll notice the difference as soon as the wheels start to turn.
Most of the wrench turning items that you mention are very straight forward. The only one that I'd suggest you avoid (without experienced help) is the ball joints. It's more involved than you think, and requires special tools (to press the ball joints in and out of their sockets).
Nice looking wheels. Post a picture of the Ex when they get mounted.

As long as you're doing all that get the F350 sway bar to replace yours. I did it last spring and it is stiffer than your stock one. It just bolts right on, takes 10 min to pull the old one off and put on the new one.
You'll need to lookup a gear caclulator to see what you should do for gearing.
What about a tuner from 5-star?

To be honest I will not be doing any of these changes by myself. I would love to learn how to do these but just based on my schedule I'd never be able to get around to it. It would probably take me longer to do the changes by myself, but if I can gather all the information/ part #'s and be prepared to get it all done, is the best option for me, since it is my daily driver I probably couldn't go more than a week without the X.
I'll definitely be sure to post lots of pics

Could you provide a part # for the 350 sway bar? I'll definitely look into this. Is there any big differences between this and a Hellwig? I'm definitely looking for the best functionality, but cost is also a factor and if they do the same job but OEM is cheaper it's a plus.
I used this site for the gears 4Lo.com :: Gear Ratio & Tire Size Chart
Yep I got the tuner from 5-star on my list of goodies along with a y-pipe, and exhaust....however based on budget I'm currently just focusing on the more maintenance and ride quality for right now, and just seeing if I can budget for gears with the slightly bigger tires.
I'm also currently looking at the Pro Comp 22210 front leafs and if I should get a block or the 22415 rear 5" leafs....Then this brings up Icon as well

Great choice. The tires are great in mud and snow, look really nice and wear very well for a MT tire.

Has anyone put Deaver springs on their X? They are very reputable and I knew they were in SoCal...shop is only 16 miles away...might try to swing by there sometime soon and ask them about springs.

If I remeber right it is the F350 sway bar and also comes on the F250 with the camper package.

I paid $99 at Tousley Ford Parts Depot but they are down the road from me so I didn't need to pay shipping. One thing to note, the bar comes with bushings so all you need to do is order the bar and bolt it on. I'm pretty sure the hellwig is comparable, but I don't know anyone who has tried both. There is more to sway bars than how thick they are, geometry and material also make a difference. At any rate, for $99 I'm very happy with the sway bar.

I can see this place is gonna be the death of me...it's less than a mile from my house as the crow flies, and has nothing but pickups and diesel SUVs. You guys keep telling me all the fun parts I can take off of other rigs...I might keep them in business!

This is a front sway bar we are talking about, right? I need to check with the dismantlers tomorrow.
