going to chip my truck

As everyone has already said, A chip for these trucks is just a waste of money. You will have to get your hands dirty, and do some mechanical work, but in the end, you can feel the difference. Stock engine? Headers and a Cam. Speed Density? Cam within reason. Also I'd go ahead and do a 6L tune up on it as well. If your really wanting to make a difference, if you can convert it to MAF, put new heads on, along with the Headers and a more aggressive cam, and check the Gears in it.
If you want power with these old tanks, your going to spend money. Plain and simple.

Chips are only good if custom tuned for your particular setup by an expierenced tuner. An off the shelf chip is a waste. Normally you only want a chip if you have made serious other performance modifications to the motor and you want to tune the eec to respond to these changes. There is a recent post on here about a turbo 460....read that thread and it has links to other threads on tuning. On a stock setup with a custom tune you can create a custom timing curve (to get timing all in quicker)....bumping the distributor just moves the timing up a couple of degrees on the stock tables across the board. With a custom burn you can change when, where, and how fast you want the timing to be all in. You can also change some soft transmissions settings, if you have an electronically controlled tranny, other than that there is really nothing you would want to change on a stock setup. You can turn off EGR and Thermactor Pump and stuff like that so you get no CEL's from and EGR or Smog delete.

however, like everybody else has said, its pointless and throwing money away until you have already upgraded exhaust, heads, cam, gears, etc. and then you need a really good understanding of tuning (or pay someone who does)
however with your truck being a 94, it should be MAF, and can handle an boat-load more than a speed-density system.
