Talking First real drive today......... WOW

Got to drive my 1950 F4 today, I知 looking for an idea of top speed it have a stock 239. Also looking for info on shifting this four speed. I知 not new to a stick shift my any means, but you would not have know that today. No need to even start of in first and from second I got it into third once clean, I finely got forth all the time by double clutching. I don稚 even want to think about a down shift from any gear unless just rolling at a walk pace.

Top speed? 45-50 or thereabouts.

transmission shifting the 4 spd spur gears? practice, practice : ) It's all about engine speed - up and down. It's been described here and in the shop manual.

Sure it good to get one moving tho isn't it!!? Congrats!

Congratulations! Makes me want to go out and work in the cold. Hope to have brake lights soon so I can do the same. Trying to figure out the wiring (a mixture of several POs and original - ) is a challenge. Enjoy!

I just wired this whole truck with stuff I had in the shop. If you need any ideas on how any of the wiring works let me know. The brake lights are very simple to trace.

Congts on the road show

It's fun polishing the face of those spur gears - As MT said engine speed and timing - Soon you won't need the clutch except when you stop and start.

Thanks Tom. My problem is the wiring rats' nest behind the dash . . . and the fact that it is 20 degrees out and my fingers get numb. I really, really, really, really envy you guys with big garages or shops.

One thing that I do need is the pinouts for a three connector flasher if you have it?

Thanks,

Ideal 550 HD flasher pinouts

Thanks for your help Tom. For the FTE archive here is a nice document that I found:
http://ia600408.us.archive.org/30/items/Ideal_Flasher_Car_And_Truck_Guide_1966_/IA_Ideal_Flasher_Guide_1966_.pdf

With the flasher held with the center terminal at the top:
X= power source = the left pin
P= dash light = the center or top pin
L= exterior lights = the right pin
