Getting a Bump On my 2010 Lariat

Ok I read some threads and this does not appear to be rare, only its not clear what the issue is. Most times when I start my 16K mile truck from a dead stop it feels like the ujoints are worn out or a motor mount has failed or a brake has released. I feel a clunk or a bump when I start and sometimes when I stop. I have not taken it to the dealership yet but I figured that one of you would know what it is. What is it?

pop the driveshaft off

do not pull it apart

Do pull the driveshaft so that it fully extends. Clean all the old grease off (if there is any). Repack all the splines with grease of your choice. I can't remember what the TSB calls for.

Re-install and enjoy. Been an issue since 2004. Something about the metallic plating on the splines wears off and leaves a small gap...which is the noise you hear. mechanically the driveshaft is still A-OK. Just annoying noises. Ford mostly fixed it by 2006, but occasionally guys still get the problem. Sorry to hear your 2010 is suffering

TSB 10-22-6. Just had it done and it fixed the bump/clunk from dead stop problem.

My dealer was familiar with the problem and the TSB fix.

hope that helped the issue

I've had several older Fords that did this...but they were well over 100k mileage. My 1993 Bronco with 283,000 miles would clunk and rattle...clean and regrease her and she'd be quiet for 2-3 months
