Just wanted to give you folks a heads up on this show. It will be held at Chilhowee Park in Knoxville, TN on April 13&14. This will be an antique and working class show and they are looking to bring in a lot more smaller trucks. One of the local Ford dealers is a co sponsor of the show so they have asked me to invite all the Ford truck guys to come out for it.
This is not a judged show, just a fun time. the only awards will be for oldest truck and furthest distance traveled with truck. Registration will be $10 per truck which includes T shirt, 2 admissions (2 days each) BBQ dinner and $$thousands in door prizes. Part of the proceeds will go to the Second harvest Food Bank and the Michael Dunn Center in Kingston, Tn.
Well, that gives me a date to shoot for. Right now the 56 is scattered, with the engine being in 1002 pieces and the front clip removed for minor bodywork and paint. Might have to drive the '73. Sounds like a good show.
Hey Joe, from what you recall, how many smaller trucks have been to this show in the past? And do they have a swap meet?
Last year's show was just a local show by the smoky mountain chapter, they had just over 100 trucks with about a dozen 2 ton and smaller trucks. This show is expected to draw more than double that number, and even more if I can get the smaller trucks there. The annual show in Cherokee, NC (that may be downsized as that chapter joins this show) usually had close to 100 smaller trucks, mostly pickups.
I'll check on the swap meet, Oh BTW they are also planning a 'cruise' through Knoxville too, picture a bunch of F100's along with the antique semi's! How cool would that be.
5 days away, thought I would bump this up, the folks running this show were hoping for a bunch of old Ford trucks to offset the handful of old Chebies that showed up last year.
