3.8 carb distributor same as v8?

I have an 1983 f100 with the 3.8 v6. Currently, I am in the process of removing the emissions. This truck does not have to be smoged and all of the vacuum lines and accessories are gone already.

My concern is the distributor. would it be possible to swap it to a pre emissions with the dura spark set up? Would this be necessary? Any info would be appreciated.

It should already be Dura-spark. No, the 300 dizzy will not fit.
