hello so today after my truck sat last two weeks i fire it up to put in heated shop this mourning to change fuel filter this afternoon. long behold its leaking fuel now it was -5 last night and it started slow with out plugging in now valley is full when i pulled into shop. this afternoon when i got home from work its not leaking anymore so i changed filter and still not leaking with new filter and orings. woundering if the fuel filter lid oring can leak and then just stop when i warms up?
i just changed them from diesel-orings almost exactly 1 year ago hmmm was a car quest filter and orings before now got a racor in there
If it's not the drain valve then it's not the drain valve. But if it is see if you can tghten the the drain valve mounting screws a bit.
The leak could be in the passenger side head fuel supply line. It runs from the fuel bowl through a bracket and to the rear of the head. It has been known to wear through at that bracket.
This is a pic of the fuel line and bracket. Fuel bowl was removed when pic taken.
The piece of rubber hose I put between the bracket and fuel line is to protect it from wear.

Just mentioned this in another thread. I wouldnt recommend tightening the screws as a way to fend off a leak (unless the valve is truly loose). If the valve is leaking, the orings need replacing. Plain and simple as far as I am concerned. The bowl is easy to strip, and you can even damage the valve. I would much rather drip fuel for a few days, spend the $5 for orings, and change the orings out than risk over tightening the valve.
I did say "a bit". He may not have gotten them tight enough when he replaced the o-rings to begin with.
Oh. I missed the part where he mentioned that he replaced the orings once already. Very good then. Make sure the valve is snug! 22 in/lbs is the torque spec.
Also, give the valve about 10 turns. That can help seat the stem and oring better. I had that issue and 10 turns fixed my leak after installing a brand new valve.

Good idea. Exercising the drain valve can help stop a leak.
