Here's another thread asking the same question. There's an expired coupon on page one, still looking for a current one for ya.

retrieval fees for offroad sticks can get into the several hundreds of $$$ real quick. Especially for a vehicle as big as y'alls X's or my F-250. I paid $1k for my 9.5k Warn a few yrs back. I would have gladly bought this winch instead for almost 1/3 the price

You got that right about the charges.

After getting stuck in mud dirt driveway and then a dirt road both times towing my travel trailer, I swore I would never pay the tow jerks 1200 bucks a pop again.

A winch is worth it's weight in gold. I never knew just how much I could have used it until I got one.

The interesting thing is, I have used it to pull things and to recover other people, but have not had to use it to pull myself out since I put it in.

Do you have the front reciever already or are you planning to install one? Wondering if you have it set up for the winch to go in the reciever and don't have the front reciever, what you do if you get it stuck with a trailer hooked up. The winch looks like a good deal as insurance either way. I might get to pick one up this spring as Christmas has wiped out the toy and tool fund right now. Please post pics if you get one and how it gets mounted.

The etrailer unit? you mean the Reese/Curt/hidden Hitch unit that bolts to the front of the frame behind the bumper?

If so, Be aware that they are rated a max winch line pull of 9000lbs .

If this is the winch from Harbour Freight, there is always a 20% off coupon in the AARP newsletter.

I'm not trying to downplay AARP, but if you live in a Harbor Freight town I believe they put out coupons every Sunday. They do this in a town near me. There is usually a page full of coupons and one 20% coupon at the top. Also, if you go to Harbor Freight and join their Inside Track Club for $20, they email you tons of coupons at least once a week, and have special sales for members only, also containing a 20% coupon. You can print out any of the coupons and bring them in the store for use. Harbor Freight is really insane about the number of coupons they put out, if you're within range of their newspaper ads or an Inside Track Club member.

If it pops off the frame rails and jerks the front bumper off it will give me a reason to get one like yours !!!!

I second that as a good reason to get a new bumper, if no one gets killed when it all gets ripped off your truck...
Just be careful with the front reciever if it is only rated for a 9000# pull. Remember the Ex weighs over #7000 BEFORE you start adding your tools and toys to it.

I know.....but theoretically........with a 9k lb rating....and my Ex were standing on the back bumper it would lift it right off the ground with room to spare......stuck in the mud with rolling wheels should be much less........an angled pull would worry me most !
If it is designed like most.....it is rated with a 0.75 SF (safety factor)......meaning it is really 12k.....and down rated to 9k. Even if it's not the standard 0.75.....it has to have some SF

Check out this winch shootout. They did some pretty grueling tests and few of the 8 winches survived.

He's got a 7.3. Mine weighs ~8500 with the tank mostly full. Another thing to remember though is you're not necessarily using 9000 pounds of force to unstuck a 9000 pound vehicle. That is unless you're lifting it vertically out of the hole.
