Pulled Trigger Again

After a few months of ownership, I decided that I didn't like my Lariat all that much. I didn't care for all the bells and whistles the Lariat had like I thought I would when I upgraded from my 2004 XLT. I also had to take it to the dealership numerous times for problems with the navigation system and transmission. I decided that I am more of an XLT type of guy instead of the Lariat type.

I traded in my Lariat and pulled the trigger on a 2011 Super Crew XLT last night with the 5.0 engine. The truck is white with gray interior. I was happy with the deal I got. They took $8,500 off of the sticker and I got them to throw in a Line-X bedliner for free. The best part about the whole deal is that I actually owe less on the new truck than I did on my Lariat! I couldn't pass the deal up, and know that I will be much happier in an XLT.

I was hoping to pick it up today, but will have to wait until Monday for them to spray the liner in the bed. I also used a different dealership this time and the experience was much better than the last.

I went from a 2010 Platinum to a 2011 XLT for similar reasons. Some of us don't need all the bells and whistles...

I stayed with the XLT for those reasons. I do like the Lariat grill quite well though. I was actually going to get an XL truck with black bumpers and grill but my bride wanted no part of that.

Anyway, congrats on your purchase again.

I have been sticking with FX4's because they have the options I like and has just enough stuff I like with out being like a Luxo liner. What ever makes us happy, right?

I was going to order a Lariat because I kind of like the idea of a built in Nav.
But I finally also ordered an XLT because I don't like the Lariat grille, and the $200 for every Nav map update kinda scared me.
Got my VIN this week, finally!

flixden, how long from the time you ordered to the time you got a vin#?

I was just going to buy an STX since I'm in construction, but the wife "made me" get the XLT. I'm not terribly upset that I listened to her.

Thanks Tim! Another thing I am happy about is the fact that I will have manual air conditioning again. I never cared for the automatic a/c in the Lariat.

Yep, i got talked into the XLT on my ol' 2009. Its the right amount of luxury for me. I'd like memory seats, but can live without them - I just have to pry the steering wheel out of my chest cavity if I forget to adjust the seat before jumping in. :/

That's funny. I went to look at some end of the year deals on 2011 XLTs with the Ecoboost and I was underwelmed by the interior. The materials felt inferior to my 2000 XLT. Every one has the same grey interior as well. Also I didn't see any with rear air vents. Not sure if that's possible in an XLT, but with a crew cab I think it's needed.

WOW! I had the complete opposite reaction when comparing the interior of my new XLT to my '88 XLT Lariat. The interior on my '88 was 100% red and the molding screws kept backing out and the damned thing was just noisy.

I think Ford has slam dunked the interiors on these trucks.

i just bought my 11 XLT, 5.0, 2 months ago and could not be happier! i traded in an 06 XLT, and my 11 has a lot more features. I would say though, the only thing i wish i did have inside the truck is the rear view camera. Just 2 days ago i did my home link mod for 6.50 (local pick-n-pull had the transmitter). other than that, it fits my needs perfectly!

glad to hear you will be happier in your truck. and good on you for getting the bed liner included..... thats the only exterior feature i wish i had!

Savannah, I'm a little confused (nothing new for me!); first, you traded your '04 for a '11 Lariat, then traded the Lariat for a new XLT?

I have an '02 Lariat supercrew, and like it, but I also don't like the auto a/c and heat. Just can't get the thing adjusted right. So, next time, I'll have to check out several models. Since I always buy used, my choices aren't as good, but I think I'll just follow some of y'all boys around, and buy your trade ins!
