Also see Power Steering Pumps and Alternator Brackets

I believe the PS pump Blundell uses is from a late model LS1, as used on Corvettes and Camaros; the one used on late GTOs was also very small with remote reservoir.

If you have a flathead with car-type belts (two narrow belts vs. one fat, one narrow) it would be real easy to add a pump bracket off the driver's side head.
Do you think it might be this one?

That certainly appears to be it, at least the same size. I have to wonder if the bearings in that are up to the forces a fan would put on them. Seems better to have the pump off to the side by itself.

I agree, you would think it fan vibration would destroy the bearings really quickly. I'm gonna call the guy in the link you posted monday and aslo call my local napa. They are great about finding parts my my ole girl. (Darla)

Can you tell us about your experience with them? When did you buy? how long was delivery? Any markings on the pump? Is it a high or low flow pump?
Pictures would be awesome. What is your facebook name?

Ron, these are the best pics I could get. You can see the pump but not much of the bracket. You can also see the pulley I machined to move the fan out so It does not run afoul of the belt. Bracket is 3/16" steel. *If I did it all again I would make the rough bracket, get my pump, make it work with the bracket and put it in place then make my pulley so it lined up with the crank and go. This is basically what I did even with the Blundell stuff. *I will dig through my emails for any from Blundell, you may find something there to help you. Let me know what I can do to help. Good luck.*

Jake

Copy of an email I sent. I'll try to get pics off my phone and up here soon.

1949/59 Ford Passenger Car Parts Catalog / Illustration Section 35, Page 82.

All the 1953 P/S pump and related parts are shown in an exploded view.

This catalog is available on a CD from hipoparts.com / Anyone here have one besides myself? Prolly not, so...

Contact Green Sales Co. (greensalescompany.com) in Cincinnati OH and ask them to scan and email y'all a copy of the above page.

I have the 1953 Ford Power Steering Manual. I don't have a scanner, but you might be able to find another copy of it somewhere.

The thread I linked to, and the pictures 55 F350 posted, were for a similar thread on the Flathead Forum. Bottom line, the original unit was huge compared to anything modern, and neither the brackets nor the rest of the system are available as best the forum members could find. I'm not sure, but I also believe it used a third sheave on the crank pulley.

It would take less time to build one than to find all the pieces and you'd have a modern unit, not the leaky old integral reservoir type.

Thanks for all the help guys. I looked at a pump from a camry 70 bucks and it looks about the right size. The lines should be easier with the toyota gear box. Make a bracket and pully. Kit from classic haulers for all the other stuff. About a grand total. I will start getting parts after the new year. I'll post picture as I go.

Albuq f-1 is correct, the 53 passenger car power steering setup used a three sheave crank pulley. These pulleys are hard to find, as is the rest of the system.

If you do deside to do your own set up. Speedway has that pump. The same pump in the Artic. that 38 coupe talked about. looks like the hot set up to me.
