Need a steering column
I need to replace a very worn out steering column, but being as it's a '65 F100 with Bendix power steering and an automatic trans, it's probably the rarest possible configuration. Do they make a new aftermartket one I could use? I don't care about tilt or anything, just basic is fine. Thanks!

Are you in need of things like bearings, turn signal switch, column to steering gear insulator, aka a rag joint ?? If so all of these are available aftermarket if unable to find NOS.
The only difference in the p/s column compared to the regular automatic column is the length...and thus the parts like the steering shaft and shift tube are the differences..along with the lower mast jacket which is whats seen and goes through the floor.

I do know that if you go w/ the Toyota steering box that came on the older 4 wheel drive solid front axle housing that w/ a simple angle iron bracket that you can make, the box will mount and work, w/ the shaft coming out the side of the box like the original and you can even use any power steering pump, and go w/ the toyota steering column, tilt or not, and you're in business. It's an easy swap and will work f/ the rest of our lives. I did it, and it's great. It even gives you more clearance in the engine compartment. I have a 455 Olds engine in my '62, w/ a 400 turbo trans. My 223 ci engine is f/ sale, standard bore and bearings, runs great. Anyway, the Toyota box is the way to go. Good Luck.

I might be interested. I assume you're in Texas? Where exactly?
Thanks for the tips. Probably won't go to that much trouble though. I may have found enough parts to just rebuild the existing column.

I don't mean to hijack, but the 223 will be a hard fit in a 65. 65 has the motor mounts on the side and 223 has them on the front and the Bell housing. If you need an engine you would be better off to seek out a 300. 300's were used relatively unchanged until the mid 90's. I have heard of guys putting a EFI 300 in these trucks fairly easily. I have the dual manifodl off an 88 on my 1966 240 so I could have dual exhaust.

These folks are very good with columns. Very nice people to deal with as well. They can sell you what you need or rebuild it for you.
