engine up grades
Hi I have a 04 f-150 with the 5.4L engine with 200,000km on it and I'm noticing that it is starting to lack in the power department it has a k/n intake and cat dual exhaust the truck still works really good but it is starting to feel its age. I'm wondering if anyone has ideas as to what upgrades there is for the engine........now i don't want to hear ''put a super charger on it'' or '' get a gear smashing programer'' for it I'm looking for cam, head, crank, options of if there is any rebuild/performance kits out there for these motors?? also is it as simple as getting parts off other ford motors that will work better ?? I'm just not real familiar with ford motors.
thanks
thanks

First welcome to the forums you have come to the right place!
Maybe a throttle body spacer and new injectors. It may not need engine upgrades just some extra care. Also if you have any mods like lift and tires maybe some new gears to give back some power would help.
Tell us a little bit more about the truck and we might be able to direct you more. Mods, maintenance, and things like that.

The Lincoln head is a 4 valve and we have a 3 valve head.
There have been very successful build ups of the 3 valve motor, they breath very good.
It is important to have a specific goal in mind for your build up.
Myself, I am starting to show age. I mean me, not my truck! So I was thinking about a few mods in the future with a mild theme so the truck will still be streetable but different. The heads can support a lot of power that we will never utilize so I would not change the heads and I think the intake can support more power and would not change it either, so I was thinking of a mild increase in the cam department.
A lot of Mustang racers change their stock cams out in favor of more aggressive ones, so I was thinking the stock Mustang cams would raise our power band 1K and would still be streetable of course, like the Mustang. And support it with some mild exhaust and intake.
But there are a lot of modifications to make the stock motor make a lot more power. There have been a few folks post their dyno results and with a few modifications have made almost a 40% increase in rear wheel horse power. I think 300rwhp is acheivable with stock heads and shortblock. But you will have to get a programmer to do any more to your truck.
