Timing pointer for 302 PICTURE POLL
Hey guys, gonna be setting the timing on my 1990 E-150 with 302.
Here's a pic of the timing pointer. From what I've read it's the top (labled 1) or the bottom circle (labled 2).
Here's a poll to determine how I should be using this pointer.

It's the top corner at 1.
Not the circle.

Top edge for sure. Who knows what they were thinking when they added the circle.

Ditto - top edge. The round hole usually has a ring welded to it. I've read that this was for some sort of test equipment at the factory, but I don't know that for sure.

Yeap, to edge, also dont forget to pull the timing plug out of the wire hanging off the distributor, this puts the engine in service mode.

The ring used to have a tube that was used for a magnetic pickup on some 'scopes or other test equipment to check and display timing. Used to have a scope that had the capability but never got the pickup for it.
