Superman or Batman (another tire question)

I know this is like asking who is the better super hero, Superman or Batman, but I would be curious to get some opinions on new tennies for the old lady (truck, not wife ). I have an F250 CC Lariat 4x4, and will be putting 315/75/16s under it.

My driving is mostly highway/city, with some off road during camping trips several times a year. I live in Dallas, so with the exception of the last two years, snow usually isn't that big of a concern. I know I am asking a lot, but here is what I want out of a tire - 40K-50K life, wear evenly, as quiet as possible on the road, as smooth riding as possible, and I like the looks of a moderately agressive tread.

I am currently running some Yokohama Geolanders, and they have been the worse tire I have ever owned. They ride incrdibly rough, they have worn unevenly (sever cupping; have replaced 2 under warranty), even though I rotate every 5K-7K, and the longer they wear, the louder they get. Right now, with about 30K on them, I can hardly talk on the phone when on the highway. I have also used BFG All Terrains in the past on a 1/2 ton I had. Those were awsome, and unless there is overwhelming justification to lead me another direction, I will probably go that way again. The last set I had I put a tad over 60K, and I don't remember them being too loud or rough riding.

I've read some good things on here about Cooper and Kelly. I would really like to hear from some people who have 30K+ on their tire to know how they have held up.

You get what you pay for!

Sounds like you need some Michelins. They just don't look fancy. But they'll meet every other wicket.

I had the LTX M&S. Loved that tire. Also did very well in the mud and grit. Let me get myself into jams I should have known better

Falken Rocky Mountain A/Ts. 55K warranty, 3-ply sidewall like the BFGs, good reviews, great price at Discount Tire.

Pretty darn quiet. They hum a little but not much.

Firestone Transforce A/T do well too. Smooth ride, good grip in normal off road situations, and tough. I have them on mine and we run them on all our work trucks with few issues.

With no apparent lift on my truck from the previous owner, I just put 305/70/16 Goodyear Silent Armors on my truck and they are about as big as you can go on a 99-04 truck. I have about 1 inch of clearance front and back when turning the wheel all the way.

Do you have a lift? Are your previous tires 315's?

I am just about to put a 2" mini pack in the fron and the F350 blocks in the rear. With that, there should be no problem.

if your last tires were 315's and you were running them on the stock rims, that could be a contributing factor in the cupping problem. Before buying new ones, no matter the brand, I would seriously consider wider wheels for that tire size.

Good point on the rim size for the 315's, and thanks for pointing that out. I can't believe I didn't think of that yet. My current Yokohamas are 285/75, so I wouldn't think the rim size an issue with these. I will consider that before buying the new ones though. Maybe I'll go with a 295/75. Slightly taller, but no wider than the ones I have.

My tire shop recommended no wider than 285's on the stock rims.

285s and 295s are only about 0.2" different in width (if my mental math is right), so I wouldn't think it would be an issue.

The stock bfg ruggerd trails have 78k and are not to the wear bars. On my 04 I ran 315/70/r16 bfg kms. Had them for 15-20k on that truck. The rears did wear funny. That was very likely my fault though....
