At the rate in which you're using POR15, the truck will last longer than any new one from the factory today...

Is the bed POR15ed as well, or is that a bedliner coating?

Reminds me that I need to buy some POR15 as well...

Keep up the good work. If you're anything like me, once you start reassembling those newly refreshed parts, you will hardly be able to sleep from the anxiety of looking forward to it being a whole truck again. Keep those pics coming.

Hey guys. Been going a bit slow on this as I have a tractor project going on at the same time. It's moving under its own power again and I am starting the front suspension now. Yesterday was radius arm bushings and more POR-15 as soon as more front suspension parts show up I'll tackle those as well.

I thought the same thing. That is Duplicolor bed armor. I prepped the hell out of the bed so we'll see how it holds up

Oh man. You are bumming me out really bad. I really need to do this to my truck. My grandfather custom ordered it mid 89 I think. He died before he even got to drive it 6 months. I finally got the truck from my grandmother (always was parked in garage) about two years ago. It now has 60000 miles on it. Even though I've put on more then half it's miles, it's in fabulous shape for being from Maine (im now in pa)
I'm hoping that I can get something else as my daily driver so I can restore the truck like you are. It really deserves it, and is a great start of a project. I'll probably swap in the bronco rear tank after I put the Reese hitch on, then build a skidplate to protect it. It's hard to find the fuel pump assembly though. (I don't want to lengthen the pickup like I typically do because the level gauge don't work right afterwards)

I was thinking about doing the bronco rear tank as well but I have a class V hitch on it and the furthest trip this thing will take is about an hour away so the end result would not justify the cost.

I do the swap on all of my 460 trucks. It's a nessisary thing when all you get is 6-7 mpg.
My 351 in the F150 only gets 14 hyway. It kinda makes me angry. I drive 600miles to get up home and while it's the same cost in fuel no matter what, I hate stopping for gas (especially in Connecticut) I like the range as well. I get to fill up when it's convenient.

Anyway. If I ever pull the bed off the back ill definatly sand and por the frame.

That's a helpful mod for you for sure. The best piece of advise I can give you on the por is don't sand too much just knock off the flakes and degrease. The por adheres so much better to the rust.

I agree on the frames.
I use GALLONS of por when I restore classic cars for people. The last mustang I did had por on floor roof trunk inside and outside of firewall, behind dash, and engine bay.
Problem with por is that if it's exposed to too much sunlight is that it gets chalky. So I've started clearcoating it afterwards. (not supposed to but I haven't had bad luck yet)

I should have thought of that I had some left over clear lying around. I topcoated mine with Rustoleum as I had it already as well.

Got a final topcoat on the chassis today and I also did por15 on the underside of the cab and bed and shot that with a topcoat. I also decided to put new fuel pumps in while I was at this point.

Here's what I have left to do.

-Final bondo and prime on the rear wheel arches.
-Bedliner the rocker panels and wheel arches
-Coil spring buckets
-Wheel bearing, seals, full front brakes and hoses
-Moog 844 Spring and KYB Monomax shocks for the front end
-31" Goodyear A/T and new wheels I just ordered.

I still have other things I am going to do but I am most likely going to leave it alone until spring. If I have the time and can get it done before the end of next week I will go ahead and do the core support and yank the motor while that's out to replace my seeping rear main seal.

You probably mentioned it and I missed it....just thinking about my F150, if I had the box off, I'd be putting in new brake lines, fixing up that selector valve or replumbing the fuel system.

Looks like you're doing good work!
