I have had the Bils on my '08. Very good shock for running empty or moderately loaded. They have been replaced by Rancho 9000s. The adjust ability of the Ranchos makes them the better choice when I hook onto the toy hauler. The Bils just did not have the control I wanted with the heavy 5er. I did like that they had more rebound damping compared to the compression side. Other manufacturers should learn from that.
I put Bilstein's on my '06 and KYB on my '02. My ranchos are about shot on my 25000 mile '11, I will buy Bilsteins again, loved them.
If those are the Ranchos that came from Ford with the 4x4 off road package they dont compare to the Rancho 9000XLs at all. The 9000XLs have a lifetime replacement warrenty BTW and are an excellent product.
Update on the Bilstein 5100's I ordered for my truck. After waiting 3 weeks for them to be shipped, I received a e-mail stating these shocks for the non lifted truck are out of stock at both Bilstein warehouses and they were refunding my money. I called Bilstein directly and they confirmed it, their next scheduled run for these shocks is 10/25/11. I guess I will have to wait.

I called to reorder my shocks the salesman called their warehouse and found out the rears 24-186025 were in stock, but still no info on when the fronts 24-186018 will be coming in. So I order the rears and will have to wait some more for the fronts.
The 5100's were nice when I had them on my 2000 but got pitted and looked terrible after 1 winter out here in PA. I'll probably go with the Rancho 9000's next time around.
Why can't these companies make a plain black shock? I don't have the time or desire to maintain chrome/polished aluminum anymore...
Coobie, where did you order them from? Let us know if they come through with the fronts.
Thanks
