2000 7.3L Power Stroke Won't Start
I have a 2000 7.3 Power Stroke in my Ford F-350 Dually and it will not start. It quit running last week one morning about a mile from my house. I'm in Arkansas and rarely have any cold-start issues. It was a fairly cool morning, around 32 degrees, and it quit before the motor even got warmed up good. I pulled it back home and just got to look at it today.
The batteries are hot, and there is nothing obvious. I checked the reset button on the fuel pump and it wasn't out. I just changed out the CPS (had that problem on my 2002 7.3 Powerstroke recently) and it made no difference at all. Now I have an extra CPS. I am not showing any codes.
Anyone have any ideas on where to go next? GPR? GP? ????
Thanks for the help!

How did it die? Spit and sputter or like someone shut the key off? What do you mean the batteries are hot? This is a computer controlled engine. If voltage falls below 10.5 while cranking you may start to run into problems. Do you know what voltage you have while cranking? Is there any smoke coming out the tail pipe while cranking? Is the oil full? How much have you cranked on it? Is the HPOP reservoir full? What did you use to read the codes?

When you turn the key to the on position do you hear the fuel pump running ? It's located on the drivers side inside frame rail about where the drivers feet should be, if you can't hear it reach down there and feel if its running. How much fuel do you have ? Did you check for blown fuses ? Where are you located at in Arkansas ?

I consider myself a fair wrench but I'm by no means a diesel mechanic so please forgive my ignorance on some of this stuff.

With work my time is limited but I will have some time tomorrow to get back to it. I will check for smoke and the fuel filter then.

When you changed the CPS was it wet in the plug ? If so take it back apart and dry it real good maybe with a blow dryer see if that helps. I live up on the nw side of the Rock, we have quite a few 7.3 guys in the Ar Chapter and a lot of us live right around Little Rock, we aren't that far away .

I do appreciate the help. I guess I need to join the Ar Chapter since I have two rigs, a 2000 F-350 Dually (my current problem) and a 2002 Excursion Limited, with the 7.3 PS motor.
Thanks again!
