Bio Fuel in a 2010 6.4L PSD

Since only B5 bio fuel percentage is acceptable for the 6.4L what do you do when you live or travel in an areas where all the pumps state 5-20% bio fuel?
With all the trash talk of Ford denying warranty coverage for bad fuels where would a person stand on this matter.
Should I started adding the Ford feul additive every tank full as an insurance policy?

states like IL, I try to avoid. I fill up at the border of IN or on the other side. Got to watch them too as they sometimes have the bio as well.

Yes run an additive will help as well.

You can read the EPA report on the impact of bio on DPF technology motors if you like. Its on a post on this forum under my signature and dated mid-december 2010. Botton line, the DPF technology we use causes oil dilution during EXHAUST CLEANING. Regular diesel is boiled out of the oil at high temps, bio does not boil out therefore the oil dilution is greater. The EPA concluded however that the oil dilution did not harm the engine. Yeah right!!!!

I ran bio in my 6.0 with no issues, 5%in the winter and 20% in the summer, now I don't think I would run it if I had the DPF in my 6.4 but I'm tuned and deleted and run 5% in my rig right now, And we'll see what the warmer months bring.....I never saw my oil grow in my 6.0 and haven't seen it grow in my 6.4 either, even before it was deleted it was fine, but I never ran bio untuned or pre delete.I am mainly running it for the lubrication properties.

Yep, if your truck is not CLEANING EXHAUST FILTER it will not dilute the oil. At least not from the DPF technology. There is also a different DPF technology that uses a 9th injector further down the down (exhaust) pipe to clean the DPF, which does not cause fuel dilution. I'm not sure what vehicles use it, but I would think it would be better than what we have.

Keep fuel filters changed (every other oil change) and I have had no trouble with BIO! If water in fuel comes on drain, change filters!

Just a question on the bio subject if ya don't mind. Actually two, is your DPF on and are you getting any oil anaylsis reports? just courious cause mine got as high as 6% dilution and the only way I could account for it was being in the midwest and using a lot of bio.

I change oil every 3,000 miles (most driving is 60 MPH for .50/.75 hour) and have never made oil that I can tell. The only thing I did see was more white smoke after start of regen. I only run straight diesel now due to cost. No oil anaylsis reports.

Sounds like a better system then the one we have.

With 3000 mile changes you're not gonna have any real diluted oil. At least I wouldn't think so. I was freshening mine every 1000 miles, drain to a quart low and add a quart of fresh. That got the oil anaylsis in line and stopped the oil gain. But It was a PITA.
