Considering Buying a 2003 F150
Hello all,
I'm looking at this F150-
Cars for Sale: 2003 Ford F150 XL in Charleston, SC 29406: Truck Details - 308669524 - AutoTrader.com
Its a 2003 Model XL, Extended Cab, Manual Transmission, V6 with approx. 88K miles. I'll be using it occasionally to tow a boat with a total weight (including trailer) of around 3000lbs, and to commute to work.
Anyone have any positive or negative things to say about these trucks? How's the V6? I don't expect much increase in gas mileage with this engine, but how about reliability? Is it a complete dog from a performance standpoint or is it tolerable compared to the V8's ?
Thanks everyone

The V6 from all that I have gather is a reliable engine with bearable power, bearable being the big point.
Personally I would move on to one of the V8's preferably the 5.4 you have more torque where you need it and you can get parts from a Mustang or Super Duty if you're in a pinch for some reason or your modding it.

7800.00 seems high for that truck. entry level. Miles are low i guess. I think you might regret not getting a four door crew and the 5.4 4x4. Any ramp, bigger boat, lockable space. just my .02. Check buying a truck out of Texas. Thousands cheaper. You can have it shipped and checked and still save money............................................. ...
