I believe the 10 - 12 is how many people you can rep in a 24 hour period.

A long time ago some troll gave me a negative rep and I called him out on it saying something along the lines of his one point negative didn't bother me. Told him to come back when he had some juice and negative rep me so it would mean something. One of the Admins gave me a negative rep that was worth -50 and asked how I liked that juice. I laughed so hard I cried. He took the negative rep away shortly thereafter.

Funny thing about rep - I get most of my rep for my profound thoughts but I like to give it more for the technical help I get here. There does seem to be a lot of rep given as a means of saying "I agree" as opposed to "this guy knows his truck stuff and helped me out of a jam".

Now, could someone rep me please? I am having withdrawals.....

Yeah, I would rep you, but I can't do that from my phone.
Besides, I already maxed out the 24 hour limit on my laptop earlier today.

But, if you can wait till about 3 tomorrow afternoon, I'll happily oblige.

It's actually not a bad system because it's designed to prevent abuse by just constantly repping your buddies, etc. and it does that for sure.

Another note on reps....

The amount you give varies based on several things. If you just hit the rep button and put no comments in the box, it will be the minimum based on your current rep count, post count, etc. It appears that when you comment in the comment box in the rep window, the more text you put in there, the more rep points you give. Also, if you have a high post count, you give a lot more reps. And it appears that your tenure on FTE has some impact on how many reps you give out.....the longer you've been here, the more points you are able to give out in a single hit as compared to someone with less time on the site with comparable rep points, post count, etc. I don't know that there is a definitive guide to the rep system but these are things I've observed over the years on the site.

This was exactly what I was just searching for.
Thank you guys.

I wanted to rep both for these threads but I literally reped tcb 2 minutes ago for a funny comment(guess I should have read on before I started clicking little red hearts and I have to "spread the love" before reping powerstroke again.

Now, you can only see the last 15 reps but have to wait 20 reps before re-reping someone. Why can't we see the last 20 or at least the last 20 people reped so we have a better idea/clue about who we can and cannot rep? ??? ???

And as for the "power" behind the punch (+ or -) I'm kinda in limbo. Got 7 years on here but a low 2500 posts....

EDIT:
Wait... Hold the boat.... I just noticed you can see the last 15 sent and unless I am missing something can not see who you sent to. Do I need to cut down a tree, mill it down, find some lead, remember how to right and keep a ledger (that I will most likely loose in a week) of who I sent reps to...???...

and you do not see the last 15 rep sent, you see the last 15 rep received.

I can't even read or wright that texting short hand.
I dropped my Spanish class in High School as soon as I found out I did not need a foreign language for Kolidge.
I passed my Kolidge typing class by telling the teacher I was taking the Computer Support major and not the Hotel/Restaurant major.

WooHoo... D = Diploma....

Hooked on fonix worked for me also...

And thank you for the reps received..
