Went with the 2011, pics below !!

Update: Decided to go with a 2011, added some pictures a few posts down.

Well I just sold my 2009 KR SD, the V-10 has been rock solid, sold it with just over 25K on the old ticker.

I'm trying to decide if I should hunt down a 2011 F-150 or order a 2012. I'm very perticular and want a Platinum Ecoboost combo. Here in Michigan there are very few if any Platinum's left with Navigation/Ecoboost.

As you can see I've been a member here for sometime, but with very limited postings. I can usually find what I'm looking for using the "search" feature. I didn't want to start another annoying thread ( on something that's been discussed a million x's already ) for all of you to only reply to something you already replyed to.

So......I need your help, I've read a ton on MPG's on the Ecoboost and, well it appears there are mixed feelings. I don't plan on towing much with this truck or plowing snow with it either, so MPG's are important. I was getting 9/13 on my V-10, and was hoping to get at least the sticker MPG on the Ecco 150.

What is the best rear end combo for MPG on the Ecoboost model. If it's really not that much better than the new 6.2 I might do that in a LIMITED as there are a few 2011's still around in that model.

I read about a few of the new features on the 2012 F-150 model, not much there if the discounts on the 2011 are good and I can find the model I want. Anyhow, I appreciate your input and thank you for reading through this long post.

If your not planning on towing much or at all then i dont think there is much difference between the 2011 and 2012. I know the 2012 can be ordered with a HD pkg for payload and towing but since you are not going to need that i feel your better off trying to find a 2011 at a much better price than you will ever get a 2012 for! I have read that some of the guys that have 3.31 gears and are getting very good mpg's (20-23mpg)! I have the Max Tow Pkg on mine with 3.73 gears and still average 17.5 mpg with mixed driving. Haven't really taken it on the highway without towing something yet to see what she gets. Pulling our 5500lbs camper i got 12.3 mpg with the cruise set between 60-65mph. Good luck!! Kevin

MY2011 rebates are HUGE right now. I bought my EB last week and got $5750 in rebates, which is a no-brainer if your #1 concern is better mpg's. Buying a MY2012 truck is just throwing money out the windows if you ask me, unless you absolutely have to have your "exact" truck configuration. Best of luck!

If I were shopping for a truck this time of year, I'd likely wait and get a 2012 or order one.

The reason: The 2012 ecoboost 4x4's come standard with the 36 gallon tank and the e-locker is available in all axle ratios / trim levels on the 2012. An e-locker on a 3.31 axle gets you excellent mpg's and awesome traction when needed.

I would disagree. For one, by the time an ordered MY2012 gets to the dealer, there are likely to be more rebates than the current $500 for the 2012's.
Besides that, a 2012 IS worth more than a 2011, because down the road you'll get more when you sell it. That's why the 11's can be bought cheaper right now: it's a one year old truck with no previous owner and (very) low miles, but it's still a year old. You just get compensated for that with the rebate(s).
And: there are a few things that the 2012's have that 2011's don't. Some axle configs, 36gal tank, hill start assist, HD for screw, to name a few.

I just saved almost 11,000 on my 2011 XLT EcoBoost with 3.55 LSD. Didn't want the elocker due to its only good for speeds up to 25 mph. Would rather have traction at highway speeds. Platinum package is way too much for bells and whistles for me. Savings were just too good on the 2011. Good luck in finding what you're looking for.

Just test drove a 2011 FX4 crew cab with the 5.0 engine.
They did not have any FX4 with an ECO-Boost. Is the eco boost engine worth the extra money ( dealer said an extra $750)
Also the dealer said they have so many 2011 on the lot that they will not be ordering any new 12s.
I guess we just arent sure about the 5.0 or about waiting for an 2012

thanks guys!!

The EB trucks are flying off the lots for sure. The 5.0L is a very stout and solid engine choice. The pony V-8 will get good mpg's as long as your nice to her and she'll work hard for you all day long too.

If you're leaning towards an ecoboost and won't settle for less, then don't spend 40K without getting what you want.

I'm with Tim on this one. Especially, since I'm kicking myself for not holding off for a 2011 when i bought mine. I like and enjoy my truck, but I'd love to have the Ecoboost engine.

Yes i would drive the V-8 nicely i always drive with the cruise and dont speed.
What are people gettting for mpgs?
The 5.0 that I test drove was great and the wife loved it. Is it true with the eco-boost that there are only being so many made? Also whats up with the dealer not ordering any 12's ? they all doing this?

I think this clown is yanking your chain to move his stock. As I understand it, Ford isn't even shipping 2012's yet but you CAN order one if you like.
