tick tick tick

I have an 88' bronco efi and when I accelerate it makes this noise which is hard to explain(tick tick tick constanly when accelerating only), I can't tell if its coming from the engine or the exhaust. the only thing I can tell is which side its coming from. which is the passenger side. if this has happened to anone I would like to know what your problem was, maybe it could be the same as mine? i don't know.

any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Could be a leaky header gasket. You would hear the exhaust gases coming out on each exhaust stroke.

This would be classic cracked exhaust manifold. Look for hairline cracks in the manifold. They'll usually bust clear in two. Could also be a burnt exhaust manifold gasket too but I'd bet on the crack.

your saying that I should pull the header off and check for cracks and for a burnt gasket? now that you said, "hear a tick on each stroke" sounds about right. the noise isn't really loud but its definatly noticable ummm... how long will that take considering its all rust? lol!!!
thanks for the help.

Hold one end of a hose to your ear while moving the other end around the suspected leak area. This should help pinpoint the problem and you can decide from there.
