Transmission patch?

So I was taking the running boards off my 99 f-250 SD and as I was looking around i noticed a big hole in the front bottom part of my transmission. Can it be patched or am i pretty much *****ed.

I assume the hole looks like it is missing a plate? If so it sounds like you are talking about the inspection plate. It's meant to be removed (just not lost ). Should be able to find on through a Ford dealer, junk yard or a transmission shop.

Is it a round hole right on the bottom at the front of the trans? That takes a rubber plug.

If you can't get another rubber plug from Ford or the aftermarket I'm sure you could find something that will work from McMaster Carr. If you need an inspection plate for the front of the trans I still think I have the flimsey stock one around here somewhere.
