Winter/snow tires

Okay guys in the snow states, I ask your opinions. I will be shopping for winter tires and have combed this forum for who is running what and seems the most are running Nitto's. In my little poll, 12 running Trail grapplers, 3 Dura grapplers, 4 running BFG AT KO's, and a bunch with 1 apiece. So, the question, are the Trail Grapplers a good snow tire? or is there a better comperable tire. As to the truck, I have a 2 1/2" level on the front rear is stock. I will be looking at wheels as well, so please, what did you do and do they perform well in snow and pictures please.

I live in an oven (Phoenix,AZ) and I just ordered the General Grabbers. I will be spending about 80% of the winter in Park City, UT and Jacksonhole,WY this year so I am hoping they perform well. I have heard good reviews with the Grabbers in snow and had a hard time finding a set (currently back ordered, but found a set in stock at Desert Rat), I was told they are very popular for all conditions. I guess I will find out in the next few months.

Mud Dawgs, had them sniped down the middle and double studded, been driving on ice and slush for the past week, no complaints and great traction.

And they look great

I just picked up a set of Toyo Open Country G-02 Plus tires and rims for my truck. By all accounts that I have read and a few people I know that run them, they should be good tires for winter conditions. Time will tell.

I have a 2006f350 super duty crew cab fx4. I am running 275/70/18. michelin ltx/at2 or something close to that. I have a leveling kit but I was wondering what size tire I could go with that is a little more aggresive. Taller not wider. I drive everyday and pull a trailer, I would have to go with some sort of all terrain. Any help would be great

Im not really in snow country but on my 04 I put on a set of Wild Country XTXs right before a big snow/ice storm. N Week and half solid which is long for us. They performed great - was very greatful I had gotten them or I would have been stuck if I still had my old bald generals. Had absolutely no problem driving around the city picking up / delivering friends and employees. Only reason I had to chain up was legal requirements on a Freeway and the truck behaved worse with the chains. Not a name brand but I'm sold on them. I have good luck with the BFG AT KO's as well.

But your running Nitto's now. Are you thinking of switching for the winter?

Without a lift, I think 33" will be max. With at least a 2" level/lift, you can do 35's

I ran 285/75R18 which are 34.8" tall on my stock 2006 F350 with no problems. I think you can get away with the 35" tall as long as you don't go a wider tire or mess with the rim offset

I have the 20" rims on the 2011 and they a 34.something tall tire.

The Goodyear DuraTrac are GREAT on ice and snow. I had them on all last winter and we had major snow (and ice). They are actually a winter rated tire (have the little show flake thing) but you can leave them on all year. Good off road and amazingly quiet on the hiway. I love them. I will be getting another set when these wear out. I have 325/60R20's and I did have them on the stock 20's with no lift for a while but they rub hard on the link bar on both sides.

Thanks
