EGR Cooler Block Off

EGR Cooler Block Off
Hi, I know this subject has been killed many times, but....
I have read that the easiest, cheapest, work best option is to block the EGR cooler so no more exhaust goes through. You leave the cooler in. I think the coolant will still flow through the cooler.
You leave the EGR valve in so it keeps working like a dummy and there would be no codes.
How would you go about this?

pretty misleading info there. depends on the year and the calibration file of the truck.
still IM aginst blocking off a cooler. either use a full delete or an intact cooler. pick one or the other. look at bullet proof for a good working cooler.
depending on were you live also plays a big part in the process of what to do.

i have to agree with cheezit. i blocked the egr cooler with the freeze plugs off on my 04 when i had the oil cooler replaced and it still started leaking coolant after about a year. cost me a injector and the money in labor to tear it apart again and do a actual delete. save some money in the future if you just pay for the delete the first time.

Well I can say I have used a Sinister EGR delete kit on 03,04,05 and 06 trucks. The 03 and 04's did not throw the CEL, it will have the codes in it tho. The 05 and 06 trucks will thow the CEL on the first test drive. If I plug the EGR back in the harness that will eliminate the P0402 and P0403 codes but still set the P0401. I do not know what flash level they were but I think the last 06 that I did was the current level as of September. I have done at least 12 EGR deletes on 6.0 trucks and that is the results I had.

I just had the delete kit installed a couple of days ago on my 06. The mechanic left the egr in the engine with the harness plugged in to avoid getting a code. He said it has no functional purpose now and is just a "dummy". Is this true? The manager told me they had done a few before, but when I picked it up 2 days later (he said it would only take a few hours), the mechanic said it was the first one he had done.
BTW, the air intake hose to the turbo blew off on the way to church this morning. Scared the crap out of us!

I was always under the impression that 2005 and newer 6L's tripped the CEL when there was no EGR flow sensed by the system. If you haven't thrown a code, then I would just consider you lucky. As for this EGR delete kit, I am very impressed as to how cheap this kit is. If I buy one, I definitely think I will buy this one. Thanks for the heads up.

For you guys that have the EGR Valve unpluged Id be for plugging it back in
the EGR Valve needs to be plugged in for fan operation
Guys have reported that the Fan didnot work at all fan steps with the valve unplugged
and sometimes the egr deleate wont actully light up the CEL but does have a code there
