Gas Mileage Difference

Gas Mileage Difference
How much of a hit on MPG's would a person expect to take on a F150 6.5 Screw with the MaxTow and HD option?
If two trucks were identical except one had the HD package would there be a big difference in MPG's?
I'm thinking about ordering the HD for towing although don't really need just a matter of having "extra margin" but if the MPG would be a big hit I might reconsider and just get a Max Tow.

Welcome to the FTE forums.
The fuel mileage cost differences could only be measured for a significant period of time (one year) in order to define any significant fuel economy comparisons. Providing the fuel cost remained comparatively the same. I would suggest going to a dealer and asking someone that may have more helpful information. What I would ask first is, do you think you will be towing heavy enough and over a long period of time to warrant the need for a Max-Tow and HD option? I would hate to see someone buy such an option for only just-in-case circumstances.
I don't think there are enough driver-owners here with a Max-Tow and HD option on their truck that could contribute enough information to help you decide.
You also need to consider that an F150 with a Max-Tow and HD option is going to be a fairly rough riding truck. Especially without a load.
