Fuel cutoff question

My fuel cutoff seems to be sticking lately to where when I shut off the key the truck sometimes continues to run. Is it possible to remove the part where the fuel cutioff is and clean it?

How long does it run for? Do you ever have to stop it maually? Is it just the fuel staying on? or the entire ignition power?

BTW, I have a 1987 F250 6.9 N/A Diesel. "generic parts cleaner ". Do you mean to put it in the fuel or take off the top of the IP? It'll run for from a few seconds to as long as it takes to warm up. It's showing up more since it's cooled off, temp wise. If I start up the truck and just want to move it on my property, it'll keep running indefinetly or till it warms up. The engine keeps running, not the whole truck. Everything, the electronics all the rest of the systems turn off when I turn off the key but the engine. Also, when it does shut off it doesn't just shut off, it slows down gradually till it stops.

That definetly sounds like a slowly closing fuel shutoff valve to me

What's involved with cleaning up the fuel shutoff valve? I've run cleaner thru the fuel system but that hasn't helped.

Problem solved!! Called the local IP shop and talked to the mechanic. Explained the problem and we made arrangements for me to pull the top off the pump at his shop and he would replace the selnoid. After he replaced the selnoid I put the top back on the IP and after hooking up the 2 wires and the return line got in the truck and hit the key. It took a little while to get the air out of the system but after the air was out she works fine and stops when I turn off the key. PROBLEM SOLVED I need to add this, when you reinstall the top the selnoid needs to be energized to be in the proper position otherwise your engine will run away.
