Ford Bedmat-Opinions Please
My new F150 SCrew 4x4 with 5.5ft bed will be hear soon! I am really unsure what to do with the bed as far as protection, liner, mat and/or cover. I won't be hauling a ton of stuff on any frequent basis but when I do, I want to be sure the bed is protected.
With this said, my first thought was to get the Ford rubber bedmat to protect the floor as this is where most of the "damage" happens and it would be easy install and I could take it out anytime to clean etc. I was going to also get the tailgate liner in combination with the rubber bed mat. That's the way I wanted to go...
The problem is, I am reading all kinds of posts about the LineX spray in bedliner and it looks good and would protect everything but...I have seen some people who said it was a nightmare because they screwed up the installation and this stuff is permanent! Plus the cost. I would be and, I am very hesitant to have anyone alter my brand new truck and run the possibility of them screwing it up.
Anyhow...sorry for the long post...I really don't know what to do...seems like for the limited amount of hauling I may do, the Ford F150 rubber mat and the tailgate liner are going to be the best bet for me...and will cost less in the wallet and my sanity

Horse stall mat
another option is a horse stall mat, from Tractor supply. It is 3/4" thick rubber, comes in 4x6 sheet, and is very heavy duty, for $35. cut about 5 inches off the end and lay it in, use the cut scraps to fill in the voids.
On an 8' bed, two matts will cover it all. On a 5.5' bed, one matt will do...

Line-X is a great product. Since it's only offering through authorized retailers/installers it does come with a warranty. The only time the Line-X would be comprimized without your abuse would be due to poor prep by the installer. This should be covered via their warranty for your installation. It's a nice way to go.
Question...do you have a bed cover?
There is another option...the Bedrug:
Bedrug • Bed Liner, Truck Bed Liner Bedrug Bed Liners Truck Bed Mat | Bed Rug Bed Liner
This is a "soft" liner that would cover the floor, walls, and tailgate. They claim it to be weather proof, but personally I'd put it under a tonneau cover. It can be washed out, removed, etc and should not scratch up the paint like a drop in plastic liner. Not cheap, but less expensive than a drop in, and it's padded.

I ha the dealer throw in the plasti ford bedliner and went to tractor supply an bought the rubber mat to fit the truck for 54 bucks that way stuff wont slide. I never throw anything in the be of my truck but for someone who does with a line x liner the bed will dent verse the plastic liner which may just break

If money is tight, I'd buy something to protect the floor first...a 5.5' rubber mat should cost somewhere around $75 give or take. It will prevent major damage to the floor where a spray-in liner won't. Later, if you want, you can have a spray-in liner applied. I got a screaming deal on Line-X so I have both.
