Fuel Additive ?

I'm thinking of getting some Cetane Boost additive. My buddy says he uses the Cetane Boost w/Anti Gel and it helps in the winter and has improved his mileage.

Any thoughts on using +Cetane Boost® or other brands ?

I live in Interior Alaska, so the anti-gel would be a good additive for those -50f below days.

Ford sells one and if you use theirs at least they cant blame that for problems

Thanks CornTruckDriver,

After I saw the PM23A I found a forum under the 6.0 on the difference. Appreciate the info, as it was 29F this AM and a good frost I'll run by the dealership this week and pick some up before we get to much colder and snow

I'm running my first tank of it as we speak. Def seems to be a difference instant mpg has gone up 2 mpg. Might just be a placebo but I feel it is helping will report back after next fillup

I've used Power Source Grey in the summer and the White bottle in winter. Used this for 8 years now, the 04 and the new 11. My diesel mech recommended these 8 years ago, neither engine has ever ran without one or the other.

What are the rest of you using???

I have been using the Motorcraft pm 22 for 4 years now which is 60,000 miles between my 6.0 and 6.4 and knock on wood, no engine mechanical problems. I don't use any anti-gel in the winter, the fuel I buy is winterized fuel. I have a pint glass bottle of fuel that was from Dec. 2010 and on the coldest mornings in my area 4 above I never seen any clouding.

if you have an 11 id be looking into what to do to keep your DEF tank from freezing in Alaska. Some of our Canadian friends had a problem last year

Was worried about that as well and had a heater added to it as part of the winterization I had done to the rig.

I heard about the freeze problem and though I'd beat the freeze to the punch. However, with that said, I found one of my heat pad cords dragging the pavement today and plan to check all of them. It was installed by the dealer

Buy yourself a 20 oz. plastic bottle of pm-22a at a Ford dealer. This container has a long neck which makes it spill proof when adding it, I kept it in my rear door bin and when it was getting low I refilled it from my gallon can.

This is what I do with Standadyne. I buy a case of half gallons, and 3-4 of their 16oz bottles that have the measurement markings on them. Then I just keep refilling them. Works well.

I use a small Gatorade bottle that I have marked a line where it would be filled for a complete fill up of diesel. Then when I top my tank off if I fill the tank half way I simply pour in half of the amount from my bottle. Quarter tank fill, quarter of the bottle and so on.
The Gatorade bottle is a nice size as it does not require a lot of space to store, plus it has a large mouth top so it pours quick and without the need to use a funnel.
