disappearing fuel?? haha

i got a 1993 ford f150 with the 4.9l straight six 5 speed. It has the dual fuel tanks, one in front, one in rear. Right now the front tank leaks so i do not use it. I only use the rear tank and it seems to me that the truck is using the fuel too quickly. I have checked the rear tank for leaks and have found nothing. I dont know if maybe somehow with the way the tanks are connected if when the fuel passes from the rear tank to the motor if it could possibly be leaking into the front tank? Cause this truck is a 6 cylinder, and i just put knew plugs, wires, cap, and rotor on it so this truck good be getting some pretty good gas mileage.

Yep, sure could be, check the front tank and see if there is any fuel in it. The check valves in the front fuel pump might be bad.

Search "crossflow" and do some reading about how our fuel system works.

My 89 f150 tank selector valve got stuck one time, and the gas was going from tank to tank, and almost none was going to the engine (just enought for a idle, it would cut out when rev)

You might want to check and make sure your fuel lines aren't leaking. I would think if it was going from one tank to the other the engine wouldn't run very well.

Also don't forget you running on a smaller tank. 1/4 of your tank, is like 1/8 on a bronco tank (or a F150 with a single tank)

Just wanted to point out, 92-up is different fuel system. They have no selector valves, it is all handled with valves in the fuel pumps. The tank switch just directs power to one pump or the other.
